This section is devoted to pictures of me and pictures I've taken. Sometimes both at the same time!
Some pictures here are artier than others. Some are not at all. I've used several different cameras to take these over a period of we'll say six years. The oldest ones were scanned in from a film camera, others were shot with my first digital camera, some fujifilm thing. It is pretty much permanently retired now 8). I worked for a couple of years with my mom's Minolta d-imageZ which was a dream come true, and now I have two of my own: a Nikon D40 SLR for fancy stuff, and a samsung something or other that I can slip in my pocket and run 8). The Nikon is a dream to use, and I'm eager to get more lenses for it. The Samsung is just sexy, but pretty heavy on the batteries.
Something I would like to do is develop film myself. My senior year of high school, I got ahold of an old minolta slr, and shot a roll of B&Ws with it, but the film didn't develop. (The teacher who was walking me through it said I'd done the process correctly, but there was probably something wrong with the 20 year old camera--the film didn't look like it had been exposed to light through a lens at all.) I was pretty bummed about that, but I still have my hopes up for a second shot. It was my first time using an SLR though, so I was very excited about the experience. The analog interface was so weird!
Pictures are often cropped/color balanced since they're a gateway for me to learn about image manipulation. Some results I am not so happy with as I was once in the day, but whatev 8). If you don't want to go through all these "official" pages, I leave my /pictures/ directory open so you can browse them at will.
I don't really have any future aspirations to being a professional photographer; it would take too much effort to get established, although around this area of rural Arkansas, it doesn't take much to become a 'photographer'. Maybe I could make some money doing people's senior pictures or something 8)
A lot of these photos are good memories for me, so I don't really want to delete any. There's a few that were not actually taken by me, but not too many. If you have a question on that, I can answer you. (and don't assume that the ones of me were not taken of me! I know how to compose a picture without a subject in it and how to use a timer :}).
