High School band was the largest part of my life from 8th grade to my senior year of high school. Junior high band was pretty important before that as well! My first year of eighth grade band, I was very excited about the experience (I got to play with high schoolers, omg!), so I shot a lot of pictures. Then my mom got me a digital camera and saved money on getting film developed.
Digital cameras were just too risky to take around, plus eventually my friends graduated to high school band as well, so photo-taking moved down on the totem pole. However, now I remember these times better now that they're over. C'est la vie.
Me and the kindest, sweetest girl (now woman) in the world. (Not taken by me, obviously)
The sweetest girl in the world and the sweetest man in the world. I was kinda disappointed when they married other people!
My "big band brother" and another very awesome guy, both of whom I looked way way up too!
Why do little boys have to grow up to be jerks?
Another very nice person, with some nice sunlight across the face.
Two bluegrass showgirls, but my favorite part is the little [then] boy coming out from behind them.
I regret not checking my cummerbund before this picture was taken.
The unity and band-brotherhood that this picture suggests has made it my favorite of the 8th grade ones for a long time now.
Not taken by me, obviously. This was from our last official concert [dismissive of a concert contest performance and a dedication performance and the last song at Graduation]. I always looked that serious when I played.
